UK Pokernews Roundup: Main Event Day 3 Brit Survivors, Betfair and OnGame Partner, and more
WSOP Main Event Day 3 Complete
We are nearing the business end of the World Series of Poker Main Event as the 7319 field is slowly dropping down towards the bubble. 1240 hopefuls are still in the mix and we should get near the money by the end of day 4 tonight. All the talk at the top of the chip counts are on big names like name sakes Johnny Chan and Lodden flying high, unfortunately you have to scan much further down for the big Brit stacks.
The highest flying Brit right now is little known David Burn, who is currently in 39th place with a respectable 408,600, which is half that of chip leader James Carroll. Coming back from the brink of early annihilation is UK star and double bracelet winner, Team Pokerstars own JP Kelly with 350,000 in 54th place. Praz Bansi, Darren Woods, Dan Carter, Barny Boatman, John Shipley, Jack Ellwood and Mark Teltscher are amongst the notables coming back for day 4 tonight.
While you are watching our Live Updates you can win money for free. That’s because Pokerstars are kindly hosting a series of $2,000 PokerNews WSOP Reporting Freerolls when the main event gets deep on July 15, 16, and 17 at 19:05 EDT. To register for the freeroll you just need a PokerStars account and the password which will be released a few hours before the tournament is to begin.
Betfair and OnGame Partner
Big news for online poker room Betfair this week as they have announced a partnership with the OnGame network. They will be joining the network at the end of July and the move will see both groups benefiting from increased traffic.
“This move is a conscious effort to place our poker players at the forefront of our product offering. Betfair Poker players will have access to more games, at all times of the day. Both companies are dedicated to the long term improvement to player experience. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Ongame Network.” said Daniel Svard, Head of Betfair Poker.
“Betfair is the ideal kind of long-term partner for Ongame Network: a respected gaming brand and technically mature,” said Martin Lerby, Head of Ongame Network. “In our competitive industry, we welcome the player liquidity and poker knowledge that Betfair brings to our network.”
This is actually a fantastic move for players in our opinion as both networks are notably soft. We recently noted in our guide to the softest cash games online that Betfair was super soft with a low player pool, now hopefully it will be super soft with a big player pool. Well worth a look.
