Kevin O'Leary Wins Second Venetian Player of the Series Title

For the second time this year, Londoner Kevin 'Lovejoy' O'Leary has been crowned the player of the series at the Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza. He pulled off this unique feat first in February after winning two events plus finalling the main event and this time round he won another event (His 5th deepstack win) and cashed a further 6 times. He is both the first player to win the player of the series award twice and also holds the record for the most wins in this festival with 5.

Missing Poker Player Found Dead

Earlier this week we brought you news of the appeal to find missing London based poker player John Regan. Sadly we have to report that his body was found by the Police in a canal in north London. A post mortem examination is set to take place but the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Our deepest condolences to John's friends and family from everyone at Pokernews.

GUKPT Grand Final End of Day One

A much smaller field than perhaps expected for day 1a of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Grand Final at the Vic in London. 57 of the best players in the UK sat down for the first day, with 22 remaining for day 2. Day 1b is guaranteed to be much bigger, with 70 players already preregistered and no doubt a swarm of them will turn up at the last minute like poker players always do, making this still one of the biggest events of the year in the UK.
