Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge Starts Next Week
The live version of the durrrr Million Dollar Challenge comes to London next week between the 17th and 19th of November. The sponsors of the show has been announced, none other than Full Tilt Poker who this week have unveiled that Tom Dwan is now officially a member of Team Full Tilt.
We already knew that Sammy George had accepted the challenge and now two other players have been announced, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and high-stakes cash player Marcello "Luckexpress" Marigliano will also be playing in the $500,000 buy-in game where a minimum of 500 hands will be played (Unless one player busts before that).
Londoner Sammy George was the first player to sign up to the challenge and fancies his chances on home soil. "While other pro's have dithered in accepting the challenge I was the first man to step up to the plate and if Tom thinks he can come to my backyard and take half a million from my back pocket, he can think again," said George.
Eddie Hearn, managing director of Matchroom Sport, said: "We are delighted to be working with Tom in creating poker's biggest ever TV spectacle – Matchroom are always looking to stretch the boundaries and with the introduction of PLO this is a new dawn for TV poker. Tom is a fearless competitor and he laid down the challenge to the entire poker world. Three players have stepped up to the plate. This is poker in its most raw form – two players battling it out for $1million, mano-a-mano. It doesn't get any bigger than this."
It couldn't have come at a more hectic time for Dwan, as not only has he finally put pen to paper on a lucrative deal with Full Tilt, he is also on a huge down swing where he has lost something in the region of $3 million to a player called isledur1 at the high stakes tables on Full Tilt.
The show will be televised in 2010 and we absolutely cannot wait to see Sammy vs Tom, which will be one of the wildest and most unpredictable heads up matches ever seen on TV.
Huck Seed Wins Late Night Poker
Last night was the second part of the Late Night Poker Final Table on Channel 4. It was without doubt the toughest final ever assembled on the groundbreaking poker show and included WPT legend Gus Hansen, WSOPE champion Annette Obrestad, high stakes star Patrik Antonius, GUKPT champion Sam Trickett and motor mouth Tony G.
In the end it was down to Gus Hansen and 1996 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Huck Seed to fight it out in the heads up match. In the end prop bet king Seed emerged victorious after a swingy battle, when his pocket threes dodged the queen-eight of hearts for Hansen. He joins legendary icons of the game such as the Devilfish, Phil Hellmuth and Padraig Parkison who also boast this prestigious title.
You can watch the reply of the final yourself at the Channel 4 On Demand Website.
