The winner gets £20,000 with the runner up winning £10,000 and the two semi final losers getting £5,000. The draw for the 1st round will take place at 2.45pm on Thursday, just before play commences at 3pm.

Talal Shakerchi - 16/1
Markus Otto - 20/1
Vach Nankoosing - 25/1
John Kabbaj and Neil Channing are understandably the favourites; both men are very successful and respected by their peers. Barny Boatman might be good value at 12/1 as he is a seasoned proin form after making the Aussie Millions final table and GUKPT champion Ketul Nathwani is also worth a peek at 10/1 as he is a heads up specialist. James Dempsey is also due a major live tournament title and this could be his day, worth a punt at 10/1 for sure.

Andrew Feldman in the Sun Yesterday
Once again, poker makes it into the tabloids as it has been doing for quite an extended period in the UK recently. This time it is the turn of young online sensation Andrew Feldman, who has been tearing up the online cash games for a few years now and is perhaps best known for winning the 888 UK Open in 2007 as well as multiple appearances on the hit UK poker show, the Party Poker Big Game Cash Den. The news item charts the success of the 21 year old, claiming that he has won over £4 million in the last three years, and has splashed out on an Audi R8 and a £500,000 home.
The focal point of the article appears to be around that he gave up a career as a paperboy to become a multi-millionaire, most of the time a poker player is quitting a lucrative job in the City or as a lawyer to become a card sharp, but with his youthful looks the paperboy emphasis made for quite a comical spin on his story. Let be honest, you don't need to be Phil Ivey to make more from poker than in a paper round, I recall getting £1 a day for my paper round, I'd only need to beat $1 sit and gos to quite that rat race. The story also suggested Feldman has recently signed an endorsement deal with Full Tilt Poker but we are yet to see anything official about that yet (But if it's true, you heard it here first).
