Romanello wins 'Good Instinct Moment' in the WSOP Main Event
He may have come back from Vegas empty handed but that didn't stop talkative Welsh player Roberto Romanello from winning an award in the main event. This week a hand he played during the main event was televised and it got most of the poker forums talking. Romanello managed to find a fold with jacks full of tens against the kings full of tens of another player at his table, even managing to not put that much in the pot in the first place, relatively speaking for the strength of the hand. As a result he won the Good Instinct Moment award on the ESPN show.
"How the F%&% did you fold that hand?" asked Mike Matusow of the Fish and Chip shop owner, who was at the same table at the time. It was a pretty amazing fold of a hand that a lot of top class players would have gone broke with. Romanello also put in a great performance to come third in last weekend's GUKPT main event, proving it was by no means a one time thing for the popular Welshman.
Many thanks to the Blondepoker forum for the picture of Roberto
Huge action on Rail Heaven at the moment
It's not very often you'll see a queue at the Rail Heaven table on Full Tilt Poker but as I write there are 9 players waiting, including Phil Ivey, to play on the $500/$1000 NL Hold'em table.
Why? Because there is one wealthy customer at the table. patatino is better known as Guy Laliberte, the billionaire owner of Cirque du Soleil. He is not a stranger to high stakes action, being on the losing end of the biggest ever televised pot against Doyle Brunson on High Stakes Poker and is also one of the biggest losers on Full Tilt Poker this year.
But that doesn't mean he doesn't have game and is currently on a bit of a heater, taking plenty of big pots from names such as durrrr, Patrik Antonius, Phil Galfond and David Benyamine. He doesn't look like budging from the table at the moment so it might be one to load up to appease the railbird in you this weekend at Full Tilt Poker.
Ruthenberg Chipleader in Barcelona
Germany's WSOP bracelet winner Sebastian Ruthenberg is currently the man to beat in Barcelona. After both day ones of the first event of the new season of the European Poker Tour he is the chip leader with 105,900 chips. Sorel Mizzi, Chad Brown and Glen Chorny are also high up in the chip counts and we are pleased to say that UK player Mazhar Nawab is also in the mix, currently in 17th place with 70,600. The GUKPT Newcastle champion from Sheffield is one of only a handful of players from the UK remaining in the field for the opening event of EPT Season 5.

Pokerstars Launch MAC version
It's a good day if you are one of those people that turns their noses up at us PC users today, as the largest poker room in the world finally has a MAC version. Pokerstars have been developing the software for the past year and is available for download at the website.
"This is a great addition for both PokerStars and the poker playing audience," said Joe Hachem, 2005 World Series of Poker Champion. "This will allow Mac users to experience the world's largest online poker site without third-party applications. I know a lot of the actors and musicians I coach via PokerStars will appreciate its release – the creative community use Macs before any other computer."Pokerstars understands what gamers want," said Bertrand "ElKy" Grospellier, 2008 PCA Champion and top online poker star. "Although PCs are still the top gaming platform, the number of online games for Mac has been growing by leaps and bounds. The community started asking for an acceptable online poker version for Mac, and Pokerstars stepped up to deliver it. They didn't rush into a launch, but developed the best software for the platform, in line with Mac user feedback and advice, to ensure users have a positive experience."
Fox Poker Club to open in 2009
Dusk Till Dawn are not the only poker club in the UK who struggled to open their doors, for the last four years the Fox Poker Club have been trying to obtain a Casino License to open in London. It was granted in May this year and the club now expects to open near Piccadilly Circus early in 2009.
Like Dusk Till Dawn, the Fox Poker Club will be a poker venue and not a casino, and is welcoming input from the poker community as well as offering free trial memberships. You can check out their own community poker website called myfoxpoker online.
