Andrew Tuxworth wins the DTD Deepstack Festival
The numbers were lower than expected but there were probably more chips in play than usual for this deep stack main event. Some of the best circuit players in the UK descended on DTD for the £500+£50 event with a 15,000 stack and slow clock. There only looked like there would be one result, as the start of the tournament was delayed by a few minutes as staff were trying to pile up Andrew Tuxworth's mighty 500,000 stack onto the table, his nearest rival had 180,000.
He was joined at the table by big names on the circuit like Paul Gourlay, Nichiei Hicks and Pokernews Blogger Adam 'Snoopy' Goulding. None of them were even able to put a dent in his stack and he ran like god for the majority of the event all the way up to the final hand when he found pocket kings, defeating the 7-3 off (we assume it was a move) of Paul Murphy. Local boy Tuxworth took home £15,925 in what must have been one magical Bank Holiday weekend for him!
APAT World Championship of Amateur Poker starts this week
The Amateur Poker Association & Tour have come an incredibly long way in just a few years. They recently had a team event, have produced a WSOP bracelet winner and this year will even be holding a Pro vs Amateur event. All eyes turn to the Vic in London this week though, as they will be holding their first ever mixed games festival from Wednesday.
You probably wont find many Omaha, Razz and Stud events in the UK this year and certainly not with a championship style structure and definatley not for a modest £50 entry fee. But that is exactly what APAT have in store, starting with the Omaha event on Wednesday, the Razz event on Thursday, a Stud competition on Friday and ending with a £75 3 day event hold'em event on Saturday.
