UKPN Preview: The European Deepstack Poker Championships 0001

As we look towards 2008 we simply have to bring you up to speed on what could be the best value tournament of the year. The European Deepstack Poker Championships in Drogheda, Ireland is put on by the guys at Green Joker Poker and promises to be the most playable tournament on the calendar. The 8 day festival starts on the 2nd of February with a really juicy side event schedule.

Things start with a €550 short handed no limit hold'em event, for those of you who like a lot of action. Then there is a €550 Pot Limit Omaha championship two days later. What makes both of these events special is that you start with a whopping 20,000 starting chips and a 1 hour clock – which must be the most generous structure seen in a side event.

But the main event is really something special. The €1500 No Limit Hold'em event has the deepest stacks we have ever seen. 50,000 starting chips and a one hour clock. The blinds start at 25/50, which means everyone starts with an amazing 1000 big blinds. This means you could easily register in advance, stay home on day one and still have plenty of chips to play with one day two (but why would you want to do that?).

Names already confirmed for the event include Barny Boatman, Joe Beevers and Padraig Parkinson. We also expect this year's champion, Jen Mason, to be defending her crown as well as all the best players in the Irish circuit.

You can win your seat for as little as $2 on Green Joker Poker and there is a direct super satellite every other Sunday for $270. Don't forget that with Pokernews you get a free $10 cash or $25 tournament voucher on top of the $500 bonus when you sign up to Green Joker Poker with us.
