ECOOP Event #9 - Pot Limit Omaha, $100k Guaranteed

ECOOP Event #9 - Pot Limit Omaha, $100k Guaranteed 0001

The ninth event at the European Championship of Online Poker (ECOOP) took place on Saturday 8th December at Titan Poker. 442 players participated in this Pot Limit Omaha $250 + $18 Freezeout event. The total buy-ins were $110,500 and the fees were $7,956. The tournament took eight and a half hours to complete and the final table was reached at 2.14am. "Hikipinko" followed up his victory the previous day in Event 8, the $100 + $9 No Limit Hold'em rebuy tournament, with another impressive victory here in Event #9, surely making him the player of the Championships with two bracelets in two consecutive days.

Well done to the following players on making the final table:-

skint2004 366,484
charlotte1983 87,820
Hikipinko 260,020
jonnymushrooms 143,412
ChipSilo 62,680
danny1959 98,320
Valadore 21,704
sendmemore (D) 109,555
vader793 81,210

The first decisive hand on the final table involved "Valadore" and "sendmemore". After the blinds, the action was folded around to "Valadore" with {2-Spades}{a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{k-Diamonds} who raised, making it 17,500 to go. This pre-flop raise was called by "sendmemore" with {7-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{10-Spades}{j-Clubs}. The flop came down {6-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}. "Valadore" then went all in for his remaining 4,204, despite missing the flop, which was called by "sendmemore" with top pair and an ace kicker. The turn card was {4-Hearts} which gave "Valadore" some outs, but the river {a-Clubs} gave the pot of 50,908 to "sendmemore" with two pairs and eliminated "Valadore" in 10th place.

The next player to go was unlucky "vader793" who was eliminated by "skint2004". With promising hole cards {8-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs} "vader793" raised 12,500 from the small blind. This was re-raised 40,000 by "skint2004" with {j-Spades}{k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} to which "vader793" responded by going all-in for his remaining 61,210 chips. This was called by "skint2004" and with all betting action complete before the flop, it was time for the showdown. The flop came down {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} and the turn was {10-Hearts} before the killer river card {k-Diamonds} gave "skint2004" trip kings and took down the pot of 152,420 to eliminate "vader793" in 9th place.

More than an hour elapsed before the final table lost its next player in an exciting three way hand. Under the gun "jonnymushrooms" raised 35,000 with {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. The raise was called by "skint2004" with {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts} and by "Hikipinko" with {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}{q-Spades} to make for three way interest in the flop. The flop came down {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. With all players hitting something on the flop, "Hikipinko" came out firing with a raise of 110,000, "jonnymushrooms" responded by going all-in, "skint2004" re-raised for 220,000 and "Hikipinko" also went all-in for his remaining 1,466. The turn card was {6-Clubs} and the river card {7-Diamonds}. "Hikipinko" therefore took the main pot of 393,484 with two pair with "skint2004" taking the smaller side pot, eliminating "jonnymushrooms" in 8th place.

The next elimination took place only 5 minutes later. There was a pre-flop raise of 35,000 by "sendmemore" with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts} which was called by "skint2004" with {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and by "Hikipinko" in the big blind with {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. The flop came down {q-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}. "Hikipinko" checked the flop, "sendmemore" went all in for 45,256 and "skint2004" raised a further 131,548. "Hikipinko" then folded his hand, leaving two players to see the turn and river. The turn card was {2-Spades} and the river {3-Diamonds} giving "skint2004" a straight and eliminating "sendmemore" in 7th place.

The next player to hit the rail was "PORSENNA", eliminated in 6th place after betting action up to the turn. Pre-flop action was quiet for once in this tournament, with "PORSENNA" flat calling in the small blind with {j-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and "skint2004" checking his {3S{k-Spades}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} in the big blind enabling him to see a flop. The flop came down {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} which was checked by both players. The turn card was {8-Spades} which was checked again by "PORSENNA" and a small bet of 24,000 was then made by "skint2004", disguising the strength of his hand. At this stage "PORSENNA" went all-in, probably thinking the aces were good and was called by "skint2004". The river was a blank for both players, with "skint2004"'s trip 8's taking down the pot of 73,180 and eliminating "PORSENNA".

With five players remaining, the betting action returned to being aggressive pre-flop with "danny1959" raising 30,000 from the small blind with {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. This was then re-raised by "skint2004" with {j-Clubs}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} and called all-in by "danny1959" for his remaining 33,280. The flop came down {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}, the {a-Clubs} on the turn helped no-one and the {3-Diamonds} on the river confirmed that "skint2004" took the pot of 177,280, eliminating "danny1959" in 5th place.

Only a few short minutes later, the next crucial hand was played out. "ChipSilo" raised 24,000 on the button with {9-Clubs}(4H}{10-Spades}{a-Hearts} and the short stacked "charlotte1983" went all-in for 52,140 with {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}. With the advantage of a far larger chip stack, "Chipsilo" called the all-in. The flop came down {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Hearts} giving both players a 4 part flush but with "Chipsilo" holding the {a-Hearts}. The turn card was {8-Diamonds} but the river card was {2-Hearts} making the ace high flush for "ChipSilo", giving him a pot of 134,280 and eliminating "charlotte1983" in a creditable 4th place.

Half an hour later we were down to the final two players. Again all the action took place pre-flop, with a 55,000 chip raise from "ChipSilo" with {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Clubs} which was re-raised a huge 175,000 by "skint2004" holding {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{j-Spades}. "Hikipinko" then went all-in for 540,008 holding {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. "Chipsilo" then folded under the heat of the betting action and "skint2004" went all-in for his remaining 141,066 leaving two players in the hand to see the flop. The flop came down {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs} giving "Hikipinko" the advantage with his aces. The turn was {j-Diamonds} and the river {4-Hearts} giving the massive pot of nearly 1 million chips to "Hikipinko" and eliminating "skint2004" in 3rd place.

The heads up action was short lived and a mere minute later we had our winner. "ChipSilo" raised 50,000 from the small blind with {8-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, "Hikipinko" re-raised 160,000 with {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{a-Spades}, which was called by "ChipSilo" pre-flop. The flop came down {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{a-Hearts}, the turn card was {q-Diamonds} and the river card a blank for both players, eliminating "ChipSilo" and giving the tournament victory, ECOOP bracelet and more than $27,000 prize money to "Hikipinko", winning his second ECOOP tournament in two days.

Congratulations to the top three finishers, "Hikipinko", "ChipSilo" and "skint2004" who received the following payouts:

Hikipinko $27,625.00
ChipSilo $16,575.00
Skint2004 $8,840.00
