The full schedule has been announced by PaddyPowerPoker.com for the upcoming Irish Open 2008. The festival lasts over a week and will feature Holdem and Omaha tournaments in addition to the €3 Million Guaranteed Main Event. There will also be the first ever Irish Open Ladies Event, which is a fantastic opportunity for more women to get involved in the game!
A Super Satellite to the Main Event will kick off proceedings on the 19th of March, with the Main Event taking place the next day on the 20th. Good Friday is the important day for the Ladies to mark on the calendar, with the inaugural Irish Open Ladies Event. The tournament is a €330 no limit Holdem freezeout.
Nikki Newman, Head of Poker at Paddy Power Poker, is delighted to be introducing the new event. "I am very excited about it. I have always felt something of a personal compunction to help bring more women into the game. Colette Doherty, Irene Tier and Jenny Heggerty, showed us just how much power there is in the Irish ladies game. So what better backdrop could there be for a ladies poker event than the Irish Open itself!"
The other events on the schedule are the €1,500 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout, the €400 Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy and the No Limit Holdem Double Chance Scalp (€270+€30+€30).
The Double Chance Scalp should be a really popular finish to the festival and takes place on Easter Monday. Each player will be issued with half their starting stack at the beginning of the event. They can take the remainder of their chips anytime between the first hand and the first break. When players get the second stack they will also receive a scalp chip which has a value of €30. This chip is passed onto the player that knocks them out of the tournament.
