The Great British Poker Tour Heads to Leeds 0001

Stars from the British poker scene, including Joe Beevers and Wille Tann, are heading to Yorkshire in August for the Leeds leg of the GBPT at the Gala Casino.

Poker is booming in Yorkshire as casinos jump on the Texas Hold'em bandwagon. With regular tournaments and festivals played throughout the county, Leeds is the next city to host a major poker festival in the form of the Great British Poker Tour.

The GBPT has been "doing the rounds" in the UK with great success. The Leeds leg looks set to be no different with a host of big names heading north. Joe Beevers and Barny Boatman of The Hendon Mob are due to attend. The legendary Willie Tann is also Leeds bound after another great World Series in Las Vegas. The latest big British name is also going to try his luck after an incredible 5th place in the WSOP Main Event. Jon Kalmar will be heading across the Pennines from Chorley. His name alone is certain to boost the attendance.

Celebrities from outside of the world of poker are also set to take part. Rugby League players Jamie Peacock, Lee Smith and Danny Mcguire will be there. Snooker sensation, Ken Docherty and Olympic Gold Medalist Darren Campbell will also be playing.

The winner of the Leeds leg will take away £21,000 in winnings alongside a seat in the GBPT final in November 2007.

The GBPT Leeds main event is now sold out. However, there are still seats available in the side events at this festival. Those events are as follows:

Weds 15th August £50 + £5 NLHE Multi-rebuy + Add-on (rebuy period 90 mins)
