Padraig Parkinson’s Big Charity Bash Kicks Off the Irish Poker Tour
The luxurious out-of-town City West Hotel and Conference Centre, near Dublin, Ireland, plays host from 1st June to the Irish Poker Tour Grand Finals 2006, commencing with a major charity event organised by Ireland’s own larger-than-life poker professional, Padraig Parkinson.
This event is for the benefit of homeless charity, Dublin Simon Community, and is expected to break the European record of 393 for the number of players competing. The event has already attracted some of the biggest names in the world of poker such as Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, Roy “The Boy” Brindley, Ram “Crazy Horse” Vaswani, Barny Boatman, Ross Boatman, Joe “The Elegance” Beevers, Andy Black, Scott Gray, Donnacha O'Dea, Julian Gardiner, “Mad” Marty Wilson and George McKeever. In addition, other sporting legends-cum-poker players such as Steve Davis and Jimmy White of snooker fame will be there along with a host of other star names from the worlds of business, politics and sport in Ireland and the UK.
The entry fee is €300 +€30 with €100 of the entry fee going directly to Dublin Simon and the remaining €200 making up the prize fund.
Padraig Parkinson (3rd in the World Series of Poker Main Event in 1999) said;
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for regular poker players to sit down with some of the greatest names ever to grace a card table, for a fraction of what it would usually cost. I have a lot more tricks up my sleeve including further sponsorship, big name figures from public life and professional poker lessons. This will be one of the most unique tournaments in European poker history – so watch this space.”
Paddy Power, Head of Communications for the bookmaker, said;
“Any poker game involving Padraig Parkinson is sure to have the players rolling in the aisles with laughter. With all that craic, world class players and a good cause to boot, we're thrilled to be supporting this event.”
Entry into this event can be had for as little as $33 on paddypowerpoker.com. A special freezeout satellite will be run on Thursday 25th May at 7pm with all the proceeds going towards tickets to the event and the registration fee going directly to Dublin Simon.
