Hi this is my first post. I am relatively new to 'modern poker' , having played many years ago (long before the web ,when dinosaurs still roamed free). Anyway, ill health made me unable to work a few years back, and while my wife works and keeps our heads above water, a year ago I thought of trying my hand at poker again to try and create an income from me. I'd never played Holdem (old school stud and draw player) but have done OK in the tournies I have played, cash often enough that I am ahead of the game, and supplement it through being reasonably successful in cash games. These have all been small tournies however, 50-100 quid deepstack buy-ins etc.
I have a well off friend who doesnt play poker, but enjoys watching it on telly , has seen me play, and has offerred to sponsor me for some UKIPT tournies and 200-300 quid others at some venues, so my questions are as follows:
Most important, this is a good friend, and I dont want the dynamics of this to ruin that, so your thoughts on that are appreciated.
Also, what format of splitting wins would be fair, have any of you had experience of this?
What are the tax implications (if I did cash) for my friend ,as he is not the player\/
Last ly, any other ideas on the subject would be great, because I am sure there are loopholes I havent considered.
