London's Calling: EPT High Rollers Final and Main Event Today

Erik Cajelais The main event bracelet might now be round the wrist of Barry Shulman, but that doesn't mean London's love affair with poker is over by a long shot. The attention now turns toward the Hilton Metropole for the EPT London.

Cajelais Leads High Rollers Final
The £20,000 High Rollers event attracted 75 players this year and we are now down to 8, with some big names left in the field. Last year's November Niner Dennis Phillips is still left and after bubbling this event last year will be delighted to have got over the line this time. Ilari 'Ziigmund' Sahamies could well turn

his online cash prowess into a big tournament result tonight and WPT Eugene Katchalov will be looking to add an EPT to his trophy cabinet. But all eyes will be on the man in form, Erik Cajelais of Canada, who has a big chip lead. Cajelais won the WSOPE PLO/PLH bracelet earlier this month and will no doubt be one of the stories of the month if he can pull off this double coup tonight were he to take down the £542,000 first prize tonight.

Erik Cajelais 893,000
Matt Glantz 647,500
Eugene Katchalov 530,000
Adolfo Vaeza 468,000
Leo Fernandez 460,000
Ilari Sahamies 311,000
Dennis Phillips 218,500
Shane Reihill 236,000

EPT London Main Event Begins
The high rollers will still be high rolling, but at noon today the EPT London Main Event begins day 1A. The big question is just how big will it be? The world record for biggest London tournament was broken this year with the £1000 No Limit event last month, can the EPT break it right back? The WSOPE main event was slightly smaller this year, which could suggest that the recession is having an effect on these high stakes main events, but generally speaking live poker is booming right now and with the increased online qualifier presence courtesy of Pokerstars, it will certainly be close.

With two days ones, 6 days of action and still plenty of fantastic side events left to play, London is by no means taking a break from poker and neither are we. You can catch all the action from EPT London via our Live Updates from 12 today.

While we are on the subject of EPTs, Pokerstars announced the 2010 PCA yesterday, check out our Nightly Turbo for more information.
