London's Calling: WSOPE Day 2 Chip Counts

doyle brunson Day 2 of the WSOPE £10,000 Main Event is now in the bag and with 92 players remaining, there is a real sense that this tournament is developing into something really special. You only have to look at the list of who is coming back for day 3 to realise that it is going to be one for the history books.

From a sheer historical and railbird point of view, the fact that Texas Dolly himself, Doyle Brunson, is sitting 6th in chips is fantastic. He puts himself in the running to smash all manner of records if he were to take this event down, including becoming the first main event champ to win a WSOPE bracelet, first main

event champ to win a WSOPE main event, oldest WSOP bracelet winner, oldest WSOPE bracelet winner, first WSOPE champ with a cowboy hat and of course the small matter of matching Phil Hellmuth with 11 bracelets.praz bansi

Then there is the fantastic showing the UK players are making thus far in the event. Ian Munns is currently the runaway chip leader with over 500,000 and Praz Bansi is just behind him in 2nd with just under 300,000. Ram Vaswani, James Akenhead, the Devilfish, John Tabatabai, Laurence Houghton, Joe Beevers, Keith Hawkins, Robin Keston and John Kabbaj are all amongst the big UK names with big chip stacks, with even more of them still in the running.

Both former WSOPE Main event champions John Juanda and Annette Obrestad, are still in the hunt to become the first main event champion to score a repeat victory. Another player who is attracting a lot of interest is former footballer Teddy Sheringham who has a healthy chip stack and would no doubt incite a lot of comments of 'good for the game' were he to have a deep finish in this event. Also left in the field worthy of note are Jason Mercier, Brandon Cantu, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, Freddy Deeb, Todd Brunson, Men Mguyen, Kenna James, Matt Hawrilenko and Liz Lieu.

Its getting very exciting and it looks increasingly likely that there will be a good mix of UK players and big international names come the final table. Find out who is going to be one step closer to the promised land today as the action happens, using our Live Updates. ian munns
