praz bansi Despite attendances being up around 35% in the three events that preceded it, the £10,000 Main Event of the WSOPE will have to settle for a slightly smaller field than the two previous ones it has enjoyed. 178 player made it for day 1B of the main event, which combined with the 156 from day 1A makes for 334 runners, 36 of whom will cash and one of them taking a £801,603 score back home, to wherever it is they come from.

Generally speaking, the WSOPE 2009 has to date been a crash-bang-wallop affair, with players busting as quick as they have been seating and all of the events finishing comfortably ahead of the

allotted schedule. Day 1B was finally going to slow the pace a little, with 107 players surviving and some real grinder performances being displayed. Julian Thew and Barry Greenstein both catching our bloggers eyes for such a dedicated display of short stack poker to make day 2.

Steve Zolotow and Praz Bansi were two of the big names to emerge from the end of play with a stack worth talking about, although they are still trailing to some of the big guns from day 1A. Other notables to make day 2 with a big stack include Daniel Negreanu, Ram Vaswani, Noah Boeken and Antoine Saout. All of which leaves 178 players returning today for day 2, at the much later starting time of 5.30pm to observe the Jewish holiday.
