James Akenhead Hoping To Make History This Weekend at the WSOP Main Event

Well its finally here, this weekend UK star James Akenhead will attempt to make history at the World Series of Poker Main Event Final Table, by becoming the first British main event champion. He may have had the furthest to travel, but he will be taking the biggest rail ever seen in Las Vegas as his buddies in the Hit Squad and all of the top players in the UK will be cheering him on (Editors Note: Great weekend to play live poker in the UK).

He will need a bit of luck on his side, because he returns this weekend as the short stack, with a near 10-1 deficit on overall chip leader

Darvin Moon. He also has the small matter of the worlds best player Phil Ivey to worry about. But he also has a lot going for him, namely form, since making the main event final he went on to make the WSOPE final table and the Poker Million final table – Akenhead has clearly not lost any focus and he will be going into this final full of confidence.

He is sat in the perfect place to get chips, sandwiched in-between Darvin Moon and Phil Ivey, both of whom wont be shy giving action. He also starts the final on the small blind, to Phil Iveys big blind. With 6,800,000 chips and the blinds at 120,000/240,000 he certainly doesn't need to shove with any two cards just yet, but we still think there will be early fireworks.
