Last night Karl Mahrenholz made it three GUKPT main event titles for the Hit Squad as he captured the Cardiff leg of the tour. He joins Praz Bansi and Sunny Chattha to become the third member to win a main event, with everyone single one of them having made at least one final table, in most cases multiple finals. It's yet another great omen for the five Londoners, who will soon have their eyes on Las Vegas when James Akenhead will be at the WSOP main

event final table in November.

It may have been the smallest main event of the year for the GUKPT, but it was also arguably the toughest final table ever assembled on the tour. It was a diluted weekend for the tour, with the DTD Deepstack and Paradise Series of Poker both taking place in the UK, but still 120 players made the main event. At the final table Mahrenholz was joined by Jon Kalmar, Andreas Hoivold, DTD Grandslam Champion Daniel Nutt and Welsh pro Iwan Jones in the final nine.

Jon Kalmar went into the final the chip leader, but during a three hour five handed battle he proceeded to double all the short stacks up and ultimately was the next man out. Eventually Iwan Jones went on a bit of a heater, busting Craig Swotton and Andreas Hoivold to take a huge lead into the heads up match with Mahrenholz, which last an hour. Karl was able to chip away at Jones until his Ace King held against the Ace Queen of the Welshman, and soon after emerged the winner.

The former City analyst is considered by many on the UK circuit as one of the best players without a major title, until now of course. Mahrenholz has also won a GUKPT PLO side event this year which means he will be nicely chipped up in the Champion of Champions event at the end of the year. The tour will now be heading to Thanet at the G Casino from October 12th to 18th.

1st Karl Mahrenholz £38,700
2nd Iwan Jones £24,200
3rd Craig Swotton £17,400
4th Andreas Hoivold £10,800
5th Jon Kalmar £7,800
6th Tristan McDonald £6,000
7th Andreas Papantoniou £4,800
8th James Martin £3,600
9th Daniel Nutt £2,500

James Keys wins DTD Deepstackjames keys
Another huge weekend at Dusk Till Dawn, with 385 players in their £300 Deepstack event, despite the WCOOP, GUKPT, EPT and Paradise Series of Poker coinciding with it. They also broke another record with a fantastic 206 players in the £150 side event, creating a first prize of £10,042.

The winner of the main event was James Keys of BlackBelt Poker. Keys has been knocking on the door of a big result for a while now, after first coming to our attention making the first WSOPE final table and then joining Neil Channing's band of merry men. Keys took down the main event after a four way chop which saw each man take £15,000 and play for the final £5000. Keys also captured the first tournament title for BlackBelt poker after a string of impressive results from the young team.

Kelly Jackson wins Betfred Ladies Tour Birminghampaul jackson
The latest leg of the Betfred Ladies Tour in Birmingham was won by local girl Kelly Jackson. What makes this result notable, other than only having been playing for a year, is that Kelly is the daughter of non other than Paul 'Actionjack' Jackson. Kelly not only took down the first place prize money but now has a freeroll into the grand final, which includes a £20,000 sponsorship package to the winner.
