Live poker might be feeling the pinch all over the world but not, it seems, for the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) who held the massive World Amateur Poker Championships over the bank holiday weekend. APAT keep on going from strength to strength, always selling out weeks in advance and always coming up with exciting new player friendly events. This weekend saw a no limit main event, as well as a PLO and a HORSE championship to boot.

314 players entered the three day £100 main event at the home of UK Poker,
Unibet Poker
Dusk Till Dawn, creating a £31,400 prize pool. The eventual winner was Charles Mason, who defeated Jamie Reeve heads up for the £7000 first prize, as well as a trophy, medal and seat in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Grand Final later on this year. Elsewhere Andrew Tracey defeated Razz specialist Jon Woodfield to capture the HORSE event and Paul Pitchford took down the PLO event.

APAT are back next month for the English Championships at the Grosvenor Casino in Bolton, between the 24th and 25th of October.

No UK Players in the Caesars Cup as Line Up Nears Completion
One of the new additions to the WSOPE this year is the Exhibition tournament the Caesars Cup, which sees a team of Europeans led by Annette Obrestad take on a team from the Americas led by Daniel Negreanu. The made for TV tournament will be a series of heads up matches and two man double matches, which has a unique format where one player will play pre flop and their team mate plays post flop.

Both line ups feature the cream of the world poker elite, yet no UK players in the European team despite the event taking place in the United Kingdom. There are still places to fill, so surely a De Wolfe, a Channing, a Devilfish, an Akenhead or even a Fullflush should surely get a call up before the line up completes?

September Surge to PaddyPoker Poker Pro
Paddy Power Poker are giving players a chance to leapfrog up to 5 VIP levels in one month on their way to the Paddy Power Pro online grand finals in October. The highest ranked players are automatically entered into a tournament with a €60,000 sponsorship package for the winner, with €30,000 and €10,000 packages to be won in tournaments for lower ranked players.

This month, new or existing players can jump five C*A*S*H VIP levels in less than a month by meeting a Paddy Points target. C*A*S*H VIP rank is usually determined using the previous three months' play and a full month's play is required before players can be promoted; however September Surge allows for the Paddy Points earned over the course of the month to determine promotion on October 1st.

"September Surge gives every single Paddy Power Poker player the chance to compete for the very best prizes Paddy Power Poker Pro has to offer," said Paddy Power, Communications Manager for Paddy Power Poker. "We're putting €100,000 up for grabs and we'd like as many players as possible to try and become the very first Paddy Power Poker Pro and win the big €60,000 package – a couple of weeks' play will fast-track you to a chance at poker stardom!"

Players who are awarded Captain, Major, Colonel and General rank (VIP Levels 3 – 6) on October 1st will also earn the monthly bonus associated with that rank. Plus of course, anyone who signs up a new Paddy Power Poker via Pokernews will also be eligible for a $600 sign up bonus.

We high carded for $10000 worth of expenses. I ended up having to pay $1750 for Texas tikets. Only a $500 loser on the trip. Skill game.
