The PKR Live series is one of the most fun, vibrant and exciting poker tours and when it stops at Aspers Stratford in March, it will do so with a twist to its usual Main Event offerings.
March 28 marks the start of the ninth event in the PKR Live series and the first time that the $500 buy-in Main Event will be played to a Mixed Max format. This exciting format first appeared on the live poker scene at the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe in Cannes when Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi bulldozed his way through the 125-string field to get his hands on the €336,008 first place prize and his second WSOP bracelet.
Mixed Max sees players on Day 1 play at nine-handed tables, with play switching to six-handed on Day 2. Play remains six-handed until only 16 players remain, at which point the tournament changes to a series of heads-up match – with players seeded by stack size – until the champion is crowned.
Due to the format of the tournament, PKR can only take buy-ins from 243 entrants and these will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Players who are wishing to buy into the PKR Live Mixed Max event can do so via the PKR lobby or you can attempt to win your seat to watch should be a thrilling poker tournament through one of the many satellites that PKR plan to run.
