The monthly Fox Poker Club Main Event kicked off yesterday afternoon and by the time registration had officially closed a total of 141 players had paid the £300+£30 buy-in, creating a prize pool of £42,300.
Throughout the afternoon and evening there was some high octane poker played at the fantastic Fox Poker Club and some players managed to turn their 20,000 starting stacks into colossal piles of chips, none more so than Richard Swatton who ended the day with a field-leading stack of 320,500 chips.
Swatton is a regular at the Fox Poker Club where he had three cashes in 2011. He came 11th in the May edition of this very tournament, finished third in the PKR Live VI then in August he reached the final table of the FPC Main Event eventually finishing fifth for a career best score of £3,220.
The man in second place going into Day 2 is Leon Louis who is no stranger to success at the Fox Poker Club. Last February he won the Main Event for £13,450 and almost did the double in June when he finished as runner-up to Zuhair Razook for a further £6,476.
A total of 42 players will return to the Fox Poker Club this afternoon, un-bag their chips and get back down to business. When play resumes the blinds and antes will be 1,000/2,000/100a with the average stack being 73,700.
Good luck to everyone still in the Fox Poker Club Main Event.
