The Blackpool leg of the long-running GUKPT kicks off today and scores of poker players are expected to descend on the UK's version of Las Vegas for some post Bonfire Night poker action.
The £1,000 +£70 Main Event gets under way on Thursday 10 November at midday and should see a bumper field at the G Casino on the South Promenade. For their money players receive a massive stack of 15,000 chips and an hour long clock. Last year a total of 246 players participated and it was David Johnson who walked away with the lion's share of the spoils, defeating Richard Herbert heads up to scoop the £67,750 first place prize.
Along with the Main Event there are a number of fantastic side events taking place between now and Sunday 13 November. In 2010 the nine side event awarded more than £200,000 to players and that is expected to be at least matched this time around as the current trends suggest poker players want medium and small sized buy-in tournaments like those on offer at GUKPT Blackpool.
