The World Series of Poker Europe Main Event kicks off in a couple of days time and it will attract some of the biggest names in the business, including scores of Americans who have made the trip from across the pond to try and win what is regarded as one of the toughest fields in tournament poker.
But if James Bord is to be listened to then our American cousins need not have bothered travelling as he believes that they will have a wasted journey and is willing to refund any losing bets on the WSOPE Main Event (up to $500) on the sports betting site Matchbook.
Bord is quoted on the CardPlayer Europe site as saying, “I don't think an American can win the bracelet, Europeans are now far superior. We used to look up to the US players back in the day, but those days are now long gone. I'm prepared to put my money where my mouth is and refund any losing bets up to $500 if an American wins.”
The sports bettor has been a well-known figure in poker for a long time and is a high-stakes mixed game specialist but more recently has been playing in some of the biggest tournaments in the world. He is best known for winning the 2010 WSOPE Main Event for a cool £830,401 and now has lifetime tournament winnings of $1,923,337.
Bord also runs The Poker Farm, a poker community that offers coaching, staking deals and sponsorships to both amateur and professional poker players and its stable includes the likes of Martins Adeniya, Andrew Feldman, James Akenhead, Jake Cody and Roberto Romanello.
