
The 2011 edition of GUKPT Luton starts tomorrow boasting no fewer than six side events and the £1,000 +£70 Main Event. Last year's Main Event was a star-studded affair that was eventually won by Neil Channing, who took home £64,050 for his efforts.
Kicking off proceedings this time around is the £100+£10 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout at 1930 on Monday 15 August. For their money, players will receive 7,500 chips and play to a 25 minute clock. Tuesday sees the £500+£30 two-day event take place with players starting with 10,000 in chips and a 45 minute clock.
If you prefer four holecards to two then the £250+15 Omaha Dealer's Choice at 1800 on Wednesday should be right up your street, whilst short-handed poker fans will be delighted to see a £200+£20 Six-max tournament take place at 1930 on Thursday eveving. The side events take a break on Friday due to that being the start of the £1,000+£70 Main Event, with Flight A starting at 1200 noon and Flight B at 1800. The side events return on Saturday with a £250+£25 Two-Day re-entry tournament taking place and GUKPT Luton wraps up on Sunday with the £100+£10 Bounty Booster tournament.
As mentioned, last year's Main Event was won by Neil Channing who outlasted 228 other players, including Ade Bayo heads up, to win £64,050. A whole host of well-known, familiar faces also made it to the money including Jack Powell (22nd), Luke Fields (16th) and Jeff Kimber (9th).
If the £1,070 price tag is out of your bankroll then there will be a number of live satellites taking place on Sunday 14 August, Wednesday 17 August and Thursday 18 August with buy-ins of £30+£5 (rebuy), £150+£15 (freezeout) and £50+£5 (one rebuy) respectively.
