The 2011 WSOP Main Event starts today and for those of you still at home, there are plenty of opportunities to have a flutter on it. Most of the major sports books have WSOP main event markets, as well as plenty of specialist bet markets.
Amazingly, Phil Ivey is still a 66/1 favourite in the outright winner market sespite his declaration and man of the moment is at 150/1. The highest placed Brits in this market include JP Kelly, Praz Bansi, and Jake Cody at 225/1.
Much more interesting is perhaps the Top GB & Ireland market on 888 Sport and Blue Square. This is essentially a last longer market for those in the book, with Jake Cody and Sam Trickett in pole position at 20/1. JP Kelly and Praz Bansi are right behind them at 22/1, and Toby Lewis, John Eames, and Jude Ainsworth behind them at 25/1.
As for outsiders, still plenty of big names to back, including Stuart Rutter, Richard Ashby, Liv Boeree, and James Dempsey at 40/1. Remember they don’t have to be the last Brit standing, just the last one standing out of the 50 or so players in the market.
UK or Ireland is available in that winning Nationality market at 6/1 on several sites including 888 sport, which is certainly worth a look considering the success we have had in the last few years.
Perhaps the oddest market of the year for Brits is the Audley Harrison vs Lennox Lewis market on Corals. Audley Harrison is an accomplished player, and looks a steal at 6/5.
