Poker in the Park is Europe's largest poker festival and it returns to London, albeit at a new venue, for the fifth consecutive year starting today. This year's event has moved from Leicester Square, where 20,000 people visited last year, to Hanover Square, which is just two minutes from Oxford Circus Station.
For the first time ever there will be a Main Stage erected where a whole host of live music acts and big-name comedians will perform throughout the two-day festival and it will also double up as the venue for the prestigious British poker Awards. In previous years there has only been one Poker Dome, where 80-player sit 'n' gos ran around the clock but this year there will be two additions domes in place so there will be triple the space and triple the action.
Along with being able to play in one of the three Poker Domes, players who attend the completely free 2011 Poker in the Park are invited to take advantage of the free lectures and seminars held in the Poker Pro's Lecture Marque, where the likes of Peter Eastgate, Neil Channing and Liv Boeree have discussed everything and anything to do with poker. A variety of top professional players will also be on hand to give advice in the Live Tuition Marquee where they will be giving pointers and discussing strategy in real time as the action unfolds on each table.
Throughout the two days there will be dozens of competitions taking place due to all of the big players in the online poker world having a presence at the event plus the quest is on to find the Poker in the Park Heads-up Champion in the Heads-up Marquee.
