It has been a good day for British players at the World Series of Poker, with several deep finishes and near misses.
Matthew Ashton made the final table of Event #37: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, proving once again that the Brits are not underdogs in mixed games. He finished 6th for $101,813.
Paul Nash and Jonathan Spinks are in the final 23 of Event #38: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em, which will play down to a winner tomorrow. This could be the third final table of the series for Spinks, and it is $540,136 to the eventual winner.
Finally, and most notably, Thomas Middleton is in pole position with five remaining in Event #36: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em. They will play down to a winner tonight, and Middleton was cheered on by one of the rowdiest Brit rails so far. $749,610 is what they are playing for, and of course potentially the 4th Brit bracelet of the 2011 series.
