UK PokerNews Exclusive: Julian Thew Signs for Sky Poker

Julian Thew

We have an exclusive here at UK PokerNews as man of the moment Julian Thew has signed for Sky Poker. The EPT & double GUKPT champion signed the deal shortly before winning the DTD Monte Carlo last weekend in Nottingham for £60,000.

The Nottingham based pro said “I’m delighted and excited to be asked to join Sky Poker and really look forward to representing them at various live tournaments and playing in their many online events, including the brand new Sky Roller”. He added, “Sky Poker is a well-respected and trusted company with a great community of players who I’ll certainly be getting to know more”.

It was quite a surprise for many earlier this year when his contract with PokerStars wasn’t renewed, but he didn’t have long to wait before being snapped up again. Thew will be joining Team Sky Poker at events like the GUKPT, Sky Poker Tour, and the WSOP. He will also be playing on the interactive TV poker channel under the alias ‘yoyo’.

We will also see him making regular appearances on Sky Poker Channel 865 alongside analysts, including Tony ‘Tikay’ Kendall. Tikay said “I’ve known Julian for many years now, and I’m genuinely thrilled about him joining the team. It’s a great opportunity for Sky Poker players to learn from and play with one of the most talented players the UK has ever seen. He’s very well loved and respected in the poker community and will be a fantastic ambassador for Sky Poker”.

What a fantastic signing for Sky Poker. Julian's analysis when he's been on the show has been excellent and look forward to seeing more of him in the future. Great to see him playing on the site regularly too.
