It truly is a golden era for British poker, less than 48 hours after Toby Lewis takes down EPT Vilamoura at a Brit filled final table, his friend Jake Cody wins WPT London. We hadn’t even heard of Jake Cody a year ago and now he perhaps is the poster boy for the new British poker revolution, winning EPT Deauville for over $1 million in January and now taking down the first ever WPT London.
So the Year of the Brit is still in full flow already with 5 bracelets, 3 EPT and 1 WPT titles amongst the honours in 2010. This win also puts Cody as perhaps the favourite to become the third person to win the legendary poker Triple Crown of an EPT, WPT & WSOP title. With so many more WSOP events per year including four this month there is no doubt Cody will be going for it (This win also probably puts him near the top of the European Rankings).
Cody defeated Nichlas Mattsson heads up for the title when his
held against the
of Mattson. Jake won £273,783 along with the WPT bracelet and as you can see in this video courtesy of the PartyPoker Blog, he was a very happy man.
Congratulations to Jake Cody on a historic double, now let’s see what else the Brits can do on their home turf this month.
