PartyGaming and Bwin Merger

It’s been rumoured for more than a year but on yesterday it was finally announced that online gambling powerhouses Bwin and PartyGaming Plc would merge to create the world's largest listed online gaming business worth $3+ billion. Bwin are the listed owners of the Ongame Network who recently added Betfair as one of their skins.

It isn’t clear yet how the liquidity of the two sites will be used but PartyPoker look set to be the key brand. Its probably no coincidence that this happened immediately after the House Financial Services Committee passed Barney Frank's Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act in the USA.

With the potential of US regulation on the horizon this move could see Party Poker becoming one of the market leaders in the poker industry once again.

Another Poker Scam on the Real Hustle

Last night there was another poker scam on the hit BBC show the Real Hustle. This time the victim was the outspoken blondepoker forum legend known as Greekstein who was duped into betting on a rigged boxing match following a private poker game. How he managed to get the wool pulled over his eyes by Strictly Come Dancing Star Brendan Cole doing one of the worst acting jobs in television we don’t know, but you can check it out for yourself on the BBC iplayer.

British Masters Poker Tour Nottingham this Weekend

The 4th leg of the Coral British Masters Poker Tour hits the popular venue of the Gala Casino in Nottingham this weekend. As always it’s a £500 main event and the winner of each leg gets the chance to play in a single table tournament for a 2011 sponsorship package at the end of the year. The event starts tonight with a £200 hold’em side event at 6pm, with the £500 main event starting at 2pm on Saturday. Finally there is a £100 side event on Sunday at 2pm.
