127 players made their way to the International Casino in Aberdeen for the APAT 2010 Scottish Amateur Poker Championships over the weekend creating a £10,300 prize pool. The eventual winner was 18 year old (Doesn’t it make you sick?) Scott Wilson of Edinburgh who has the most aggressive player at the table and took a three to one chip lead into the heads up match with Kevin Wallace of Dundee.
Wilson won £3,000 and a GUKPT seat courtesy of sponsors Betfair. APAT members have the chance to win thirty three seats to GUKPT main events and twenty three seats to APAT Professional League tournaments. In addition, each of the season’s seventy five amateur, professional and online tournaments are run completely registration free for players.
1- Scott Wilson £3,000 + GUKPT seat
2- Kevin Wallace £1,800
3- Jack Prime £1,000
4- Shug Cairnie £550
5- David Blacklaw £550
6- Kris Buckley £550
7- Timothy Boyle £550
8- Omeed Farzin £550
9- William Hanratty £550
There was also the matter of the APAT Professional league event, the best value tournament around because the fields are always small and there is tons of added value in the form of GUKPT seats and a sponsorship package to the points leader. James Edwards eventually took down this event for £3,000 and a GUKPT seat.
APAT now moves on to Tallinn, Estonia for the Northern European Amateur Championships in July, followed by the World Championship of Amateur Poker at DTD in Nottingham in August. You can buy into these events and qualify for them only at Betfair Poker.
The next leg of the popular Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Summer Series is underway today at the popular venue of Walsall. It includes five side events and a £500 main event. Commencing on Thursday 24th June, the Grosvenor Casino in Newcastle hosts a four-day festival with three side events and a £300 main event. All the events on the tour also award a seat in the £150,000 Champion of Champions event to the winner.
You can qualify for the Summer Series event of your choice at Blue Square Poker, who are offering mix and match packages to play whatever combination of main and side events you wish.
