WSOP 2010: All Quiet on the UK Front
It’s this time of year that the UK Poker Roundup migrates to Vegas for a month to shine a light on the fortunes of the UK and Ireland players in the World Series of Poker. The big news right now is......not much we are afraid. It’s been a very quiet WSOP so far for UK players and to be honest, we don’t think many of them have got here yet.
It’s understandable really, we are unlikely to have many Brits in the Casino Employees event, hardly any in the $50,000 Players Championship, which leaves just the $1000 No Limit and the first Omaha Hi/Lo event. We think that we should expect to see a surge of UK names from this point on, with plenty more No Limit events and the $1500 Pot Limit Hold’em event starting this week.
OK that was some good filler to basically say the Brits haven’t got going yet, however there still us plenty of reason to stick with UK Pokernews for the entire WSOP. We have the most state of the art and up to date Live Reporting you can find during the WSOP and the best TV interviews. Not to mention all sorts of fantastic WSOP freerolls while you are watching the updates.
Speaking of which, its your last chance to participate in $30,000 of WSOP Main Event Freerolls courtesy of Full Tilt Poker and Pokernews. Time is running out to qualify but you can still make it here.
Paul Marrow Wins World Poker Showdown
This is not confirmed yet, but one player from the UK who looks like he will be taking some form into the WSOP is Paul Marrow. The popular player on the UK and Ireland circuit came 2nd last year to Padraig Parkinson in the Galway UKIPT and we are getting reports that he just won the $1500 World Poker Showdown Main Event in the Dominican Republic. No idea of the figures won yet but he probably will be playing in plenty of events in Vegas over the next month so we will be sure to ask him.
Stuart Rutter is Allin4Kids this WSOP
In his last video diary before the World Series of Poker, Pokernews columnist and GUKPT champion Stuart Rutter looks forward to tomorrows events and tells us about a new poker charity, Allin4Kids, which he will be supporting this year at the series.
