Another big event from the weekend that was full to capacity was the Chilipoker Deepstack Poker Open at the Ballsbridge Inn Hotel in Dublin. 465 players in total entered the €550 main event which boasted a 50,000 starting stack, amazingly over 300 of them were from France, Belgium & Switzerland. Pro players Sandra Naujoks and Andy Black were among the professionals who made the trip to Dublin.
Former champion Dara O’Kearney made the final table again and he has amazingly cashed in every main event of this fixture to date, also making the final for the second time was last year’s runner up Jason Tompkins. The eventual winner, however, was Frederic Brunet of France who defeated Roberto Salatiello of Italy heads up for the title and €50,800 first prize at this very International Final Table:
1 €50,800.00 Frederic Brunet France
2 €34,000.00 Roberto Salatiello Italy
3 €25,000.00 Gregory Puissant Belgium
4 €18,000.00 Thomas Nolan Ireland
5 €14,000.00 Ali Yazghi France
6 €11,000.00 Rupom Pal England
7 €8,000.00 Mustafa Capan Belgium
8 €6,000.00 Jason Tompkins Ireland
9 €4,500.00 Dara O'Kearney Ireland
The 2011 event is capped at 1500 players and will feature 2 day ones and an extended 4 day structure. If it sold out that would no doubt break the record for largest tournament field in Europe, and if nothing else would surely smash a record for most chips in play outside of the WSOP Main Event.
Online registration opens soon at Chilipoker. D4 Events next event is The European Shorthanded Poker Championships which take place at the Ballsbridge Inn, Dublin between Sept 10th & 13th 2010. Full details will be announced shortly.
