James Akenhead has put the icing on the cake of a tremendous 2009 by winning the Full Tilt Poker Million VIII live on Sky Sports last night. After making both the final table of one of the biggest open events in Europe (WSOPE) and in the World (WSOP Main Event) there was a slight concern that he might fall short once again in the biggest televised tournament of the year.
But Akenhead has finally got that prestigious title that everyone in the UK feels he deserved after defeating Juha Helppi heads up for the $500,000 first prize. This tops off a tremendous 2009 where he will have earnt nearly $2 million and caught the eye of everyone in the poker community. A full report from the event will follow very soon.
