Ramzi Jelassi Wins IPT San Remo

Yet another young visitor from Europe has lifted a Pokerstars Italian Poker Tour title, this time in San Remo. Last time out 21 year old Matt Perrins of Manchester took home a six figure pay day and this time round, 23 year old Ramzi Jelassi of Sweden captured the title.

The young pro, who was already developing a fierce reputation on the European circuit, outlasted another huge field of 368 players to win the €170,000 first prize and the title. He defeated Andrea Sapere heads up in a very short heads battle, and second place was an equally impressive €100,000.

Italian poker is now really on the map, such a short space of time the numbers attending Italian events has been staggering. 1178 players entered the EPT San Remo earlier this year and with 368 and 439 players in the last two IPT events, this is already becoming one of the biggest poker tours in the world. The festival was attended by lots of big name Italian pros including Luca Pagano, Max Pescatori and Dario Minieri.

The next stage of the IPT which is going to take place for the first time out of the Italian borders, at the "Perla" Casino in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) from 8th to 12th October 2009.
