Sky Poker host SPUKT Grand Final this Weekend, Launch Online Social Network
It's a big weekend for multi platform poker room Sky Poker. This weekend sees the culmination of their Sky Poker UK Tour (SPUKT) with a £220 main event at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. It will be a deep stack event with a £25,000 guarantee, which has already been well surpassed. The Sky cameras will be there filming the antics as well as the final table, as well as lots of side games with the Sky Poker presenters and analysts. It promises to be a fun packed weekend and even yours truly is going down to donate to the eventual winner.
Sky Poker have also added a social networking area to their website, which will further enchance the tremendous community aspect at the poker room. This is in the form of poker forums on the game of poker, the sky poker channel and everything else you can think to talk about. There are also blogs, profile pages and friend lists with the option to send messages to each other.
"One of the things we hear most frequently from our players, whether it be on TV, online or at our live events, is that they love the friendly, community feel of Sky Poker," said Emma Crowe, head of marketing at Sky Poker. "The launch of this new social network, especially the forums, will allow the players to keep in contact more easily, which will only strengthen the community and make it more welcoming to new players, for whom the world of poker forums can be somewhat intimidating."
Steve Davis to guest host the Poker Show
Snooker legend and formidable poker player Steve 'Mr Interesting' Davis has been slotted in to guest present the Poker Show next Monday, with guests Roland De Wolfe, Steve Sung and Annette Obrestad set to call in to the show. Davis is in a very select group of people, namely the celebrity players that have the respect of the wider poker community, and is a great ambassador for the game and sport in general, so this should be a fun show. Jesse May will also be talking to SCOOP champion Jude Ainsworth about his major heater his enjoying at the moment.
De Wolfe on brink of Deuce to Seven Final
Roland De Wolfe is becoming a bit of a name to watch at the WSOP this year, narrowly missing out on several big scores, he has just made his 3rd cash of the series and is poised to make the final of the $10,000 Deuce to Seven Draw event. 10 players remain, with De Wolfe the short stack, and tonight they will play down to a final table of seven and the eventual winner. De Wolfe was the chip leader for a long time in this event, which is impressive considering he admits he is learning the game as he goes along. He has already cashed for at least $19k, here is hoping he can defy the odds to lift the 2nd bracelet of the series for the UK (As well as making him the 2nd player to complete the EPT/WPT/WSOP Grand Slam).
