WSOPE starts Tommorow, Dave Cain smashes Poker World Record and more

The WSOPE starts Tommorow It was the finest field ever assembled in Europe last year and Annette Obrestad made history for so many good reasons when she was crowned the Queen of Europe. This year it can only get bigger and better and we cannot wait to see by how much.
It seems the few big names that were missing from the field such as Mike Matusow and Phil Ivey will also be in attendance, with most of the big Vegas pros coming out for the main event. Last year not a single bracelet went back to America and with 4 on offer this time round, you can bet they'll be fighting to redress the balance.
The schedule is very similar to the year before with the big exception of the £1500 no
limit hold'em event that has been added to kick off the proceedings. The most fascinating thing about this will be seeing how many players' turn up for this event. At £1500 you can expect a lot of UK circuit players making their way to London and we have a sneaking feeling that this might be one of the biggest ever fields held in the UK and Europe.
For every chip count, bust out and bad beat story, look no further than Pokernews for our exclusive live updates throughout the event.
Dave Cain breaks the World Poker Endurance Record At around 8pm last night Dave Cain broke the world record for playing non stop heads up poker, passing the 73 hour mark. I played him earlier this week and the loony hasn't stopped yet, as he is aiming for 100 hours that would take him up to midnight tonight. His reason? He doesn't want to have to come back and break the record again so he is adding more than a day to it.
Remember that Cain has done this all for charity and that makes him a bit of a hero in our eyes, even though he might be getting 40 winks right now, you can still donate to the attempt at www.pokerplayingmarathon.com.
GBPT Liverpool starts tomorrow With possibly the most elite poker event outside of the $50,000 HORSE tournament starting in London tomorrow, you would almost be forgiven for forgetting that one of the premier tours in the UK returns to Liverpool tomorrow. The Great British Poker Tour Main event is a £550 freezeout and all eyes will be on the 'Greatest Homegame in the East Midlands' who produced the previous two winners Rupinder Bedi and Neil Blatchley.
This could be even better value than usual, with most of the top circuit pros in London for the WSOPE the field could be softer than most £500 freezeouts. Good luck to Pokernews magazine editor Mel Lofthouse who is playing in the event (We told you it was a soft field).
