The most visited UK poker room,Ladbrokes Poker, are treating their players on both sides of the Atlantic this month. Not only do they have well over 100 players currently in the mix playing in the main event while relaxing in the comfort of the Ladbrokes Lounge – they are also keeping their players back home in the UK entertained and in the money.
Every day at the Ladbrokes Poker website there will be daily podcasts, blog entries and interviews with all the sponsored players out there. Not only that, but between the 7th-13th of July they will be running a special multiplied prize pool tournament that increases with the number of
Ladbrokes players left in the WSOP main event.
The daily Money Multiplied tournaments are a $10 freeze out with a nice deep 5000 stack. When all is done and dusted, the prize money is multiplied by the number of Ladbrokes players left in the WSOP. So if the normal first prize is $1000 and 70 players remain in the main event, then the winner will actually get $1700. All you have to do to qualify for the events is head over to the Ladbrokes website and get the daily password.
On the 12th there is a WSOP Bonus Main Event which is a $50 MTT with a deep 10,000 starting stack and slow blind levels. On top of the usual prize money there are two guaranteed packages to the Ladbrokes Irish Poker Festival held later on this year worth $1250 each.
Which is all a great reason to keep an eye on the Ladbrokes podcasts. If you have no luck in the tournament then there are still plenty of reasons to view them. Last week Ladbrokes unveiled the latest signing to join the likes of Jon Kalmar, Roy Brindley and Jeff Kimber – high stakes supremo Jonas 'Nebuchad' Danielsson. Not only that but Ladbrokes Team Captain and Snooker legend Steve Davis has made it to day 2 with a very healthy stack indeed.
The WSOP started for the players with the infamous Voodoo Lounge Roof party and there is a good chance the podcasts will include some snaps of poker players worse for wear, some footage of this writer drunkenly screaming into a camera about tipping waitresses and several players crashing and burning as they unsuccessfully attempted to woo Abi Titmuss.
We also witnessed the stars of the Darts world taking a break from the Las Vegas Desert Classic and join Steve Davis, Abi Titmuss and all the players for a few rounds of pool and arrows, as well as a bit of poker, in the Ladbrokes lounge. Steve Davis reminded us why he was the number one player in snooker for over a decade as he cleared the table in under 40 seconds. Then it was off in the helicopters for a trip around Vegas at night. Add to that equation Mad Marty Wilson spinning a few yarns and you have plenty of reasons to keep an eye on Ladbrokes Poker.
