bristol One of many new format tournaments form the Amateur Poker Association & Tour this year that gave the chance for 20 teams of 10 formed from a number of poker communities in the UK. The £50 entry event dished out prizes for individual and team performance, with points being scored by all the top 50 finishers.

Teams from forums such as Blondepoker, The Hendon Mob, Gutshot and UK Poker Life made it down for the event, which was eventually won by the Bristol & South West Meetup group. Rod Buckman and Paul Smith both made the final table of the event which sealed the deal for the team, which awarded them the trophy, £2500 and £1000 added by Blue Square. The individual

winner was Mary Martin of the Raise the River forum, who became the first female winner of an APAT event. She also managed to snag a $3000 entry into a GUKPT event courtesy of Blue Square.

APAT have come an incredibly long way since they formed in 2006. Along with this team format event, they have their first World Championships in August, which will include for the first time Omaha, Razz and Stud events. They also end the year with a Pro-Am event which is open to professional players and a whole load of bragging rights will be on the line for that one.

And finally, APAT had another fantastic coup this year as they produced their first WSOP bracelet winner. Member Martin Klaser won a Omaha Hi/Lo bracelet this year for $216,000. Klaser finished 5th in the APAT European Championships in Vienna and helped prove that APAT is not just a fun place to play poker, it is also contributing heavily to the development of new players.
