The 2007 World Series of Poker Europe is set to be televised on UK screens finally! The biggest tournament ever to be held on UK shores was becoming a bit of a concern to the poker spectators, as we were all wondering when it was going to be televised after taking place last September.
The show is set to air on April 21st on Sky Sports and rather than being a weekly affair, will be shown on 8 consecutive nights. So unlike a teasing episode of LOST, we don't have to wait a week before we get our next fix. The shows are going to be on Sky Sports 3 and repeated on Sky Sports 2, so remember to set that Sky Plus.
Highlights to look out for will include the very entertaining Pot
Limit Omaha final table, where Pokernews' own Tony G ran over proceedings until he finished in 3rd place. If you squint you'll be able to see assorted members of Team Pokernews giving him the high five as he takes down pot after pot.
You'll also see the high calibre HORSE final table, which included Jennifer Harman, Kirk Morrison, Alexander Kravchenko, Chris Ferguson and Joe Beevers. There was a mountain of bracelets already at this final table that was taken down by underdog Thomas Bihl, after a exhausting three handed battle with Morrison and Harman.
Finally you'll get to see the £10,000 main event, which had more stars than you can shake a stick at. There was plenty of airtime from the likes of Gus Hansen, Jamie Gold, Patrik Antonius, Daniel Negreanu and of course Phil Hellmuth, all of whom got deep. At times it was the Phil Hellmuth show and he didn't disappoint any of his fans or detractors.
We all know now that the bracelet went to the hottest property in online poker, Annette Obrestad and you'll see how this victory was no fluke. Obrestad proved to all of us that were watching from the rail why she is such a devastating player when she has the button and her heads up battle with John Tabatabai was one for the ages.
