LAPT Mexico to go ahead, online

After the Pokerstars.net LAPT Mexico was cancelled last week towards the end of day 1a by Mexican Gaming Officials, many poker rooms would give up and call it a day. Not Pokerstars.net, who have announced they will still crown an LAPT Mexico Champion.

Those players who remained in the field will restart the game online, with the same number of chips they finished with. When they get to the final table, the remaining nine will be flown to the LAPT Vina del Mar in Chile, to play a televised final table.

"We know that many of our remaining players really wanted the opportunity to finish this tournament and earn their shot at an LAPT title" says Sarne Lightman, Director of Marketing for PokerStars Latin America. "Although the tournament was suspended and the prize money distributed, PokerStars still wants to offer their players this extra opportunity. PokerStars will also be adding $50,000 in prize money to the final table. "

Pokerstars.net, will be contacting all the players shortly with a choice of available times and dates for the free roll and will then schedule the time most convenient to most players.

EPT Prague begins today

One of the newer stops on the European Poker Tour Calendar starts today, the Pokerstars.net EPT Prague Main Event. The four day €5,000 event was won by Arnaud Mattern last year and this time round has a cap of 600 players at the Hilton Prague Hotel. This event will be the first major open tournament played by WSOP champion and Pokerstars.net Pro Peter Eastgate, who is still in fine form after making the final of the Party Poker Premier League last month.

As usual, stay tuned to Pokernews for all the chip counts and bust outs as around 600 play down to one in Prague.

Martijn Schirp wins Prague Poker Palooza II

Speaking of Prague, VC Poker have just hosted the Prague Poker Palooza II at the Spearmint Casino. This event is traditionally a fun filled, value added 4 day event that at times resembles a Stag Party more than a poker tournament. Online players won their way to three cash events plus a special $25,000 free roll on the final day.

The main event had an impressive €10,000 added to it and it was Martin Schirp of Amsterdam who scooped the €20,000 first prize, when he beat Mark Pukhov of Russia with nothing but ace high. David Johansson of Sweden win the €500 side event for a €6000 first prize and Marios Tegopoulos of Greece won the opening €250 freeze out with $25 bounties. A little closer to home and Irishman Brian Guinan ended the week by winning the $25,000 free roll for $9,250 – making it a clean sweep of wins for VC Poker qualifiers, all of whom won their seats for a measly $50. This is definitely one to mark on your calendar for next year.

Big week of TV Poker Ahead

On top of the usual plethora of TV poker available in the UK at the moment, this week will see the start of one major TV tournament and the end of another. The Party Poker Women's World Open starts tomorrow on Channel Five for a 7 week stint, which will see Beverley Pace defend her crown and Pokernews' own Mel Lofthouse doing us proud.

Also this week are the two semi finals of the Ladbrokes Poker Million, which will culminate in the live final on Friday night on Sky Sports. Marty Smyth, The Devilfish, Tony G and Roy Brindley are all still in the mix so the final should be amazing, particularly if Marty Smyth does the impossible and makes it three Poker Million Finals in a row.

Christmas Countdown at William Hill

More festive stuff for free, this time courtesy of William Hill Poker, who are holding a Christmas Countdown of promotions.
