High Stakes Poker season 5 filmed in December
Anyone who has followed UK Pokernews for some time knows how ridiculously biased I am towards the show High Stakes Poker so today I am pleased to announce the 5th season will be filmed between December 19th and 21st. The Golden Nugget is the new venue for the nosebleed cash game.

No word yet on who is participating, however you can bet that the usual suspects like Mike Matusow, Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson and Daniel Negreanu will be around. I for one also think that new WSOP champion Peter Eastgate will be extended an invitation as well as online cash game sensation Thomas 'Durrrr' Dwan.

Hopefully this time round Phil Ivey will attend and be a little bit more exciting, as he didn't really get out of first gear in his last appearance. Phil Hellmuth will also be a welcome addition and isn't it about time Pokernews own Tony G finally captained the table of the biggest cash game going? I'd also wager that the man on the losing end of some of the biggest recorded pots ever, Guy Laliberte, will have his arm bitten off to get join them.

There has also been talk of high stakes Omaha making a debut on the show and that really would be the icing on the cake. Non hold'em games traditionally don't broadcast well on TV but we are at a point now where the poker audience is sophisticated enough to embrace the sickest game to play at high stakes.

The minimum buy-in will go up from $100,000 to $200,000 and we don't know yet if the $500,000 buy-in shows will happen. Hopefully not, as most fans agreed it changed the game last time round, making even some of the best players in the world play scared, and maybe bringing the normal minimum up to $200,000 will be a happy medium.

"I am very excited about the mix of players that we will bring together for this next season," said Mori Eskandani, High Stakes Poker producer "Viewers are in for a thrill."

DTD announce new monthly Deepstack
Dusk Till Dawn have always been happy to tinker with their schedule to accommodate customer demand, and this week is no different with the announcement of a change to the monthly deepstack weekend. From next year, the first weekend of the month will host the monthly £300+£30 deepstack main event which now boasts a staggering £50,000 guarantee (It was only 20k at the start of the year). They also will be holding a £150+£15 side event on Sundays which also boasts an impressive £10,000 guarantee. Don't forget that on top of the cash, these are European ranking events, so expect big names and big money at the Nottingham club next year.

$100,000 Double Deuce at Full Tilt

Online Poker tax free in Ireland
Despite the obvious global financial meltdown, Irish Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has chosen to give the online gambling industry at least one more year tax free. Yesterday he stated he was delaying major changes in order to further study the industry. The Irish government is currently considering becoming an online gambling hub which could stimulate the Irish economy significantly.
