David Singer Wins First FTOPS $25k Heads-Up Title
The biggest online heads-up poker tournament has come and gone, and David Singer has emerged as the champion. David wins bragging rights, a piece of history, and one can't exclude the massive $560k first place prize. David Singer is one of the many Full Tilt Pros that entered this tournament, and the cemented the reason why by defeating Emil "whitelime" Patel in the Final. Coming second wasn't so bad however, with Patel earning $320k to his poker account.
Sunday was the big day for the finals and semi finals following up all the opening rounds of play which happened on Saturday. The semi-finals were fantastic matches, pitting Singer up against Bryan Hastings and Patel up against NBC Heads-Up Poker Champ Andy Bloch. Unfortunately for Hastings and Bloch, they fell up short, and both had $168k sent to their Full Tilt cashier.
Out of the 64 entrants, 'in the money' was only the final 8. The other four people that made money in this event were Dani "Ansky451" Stern, "mastrblastr," "mischeifofmagic," and the rumored account of Patrik Antonius "FinddaGrind." This tournament drew out the best of the best including Gus Hansen, Phil Ivey, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Cory Carrol, David Benyamine, and Chris Ferguson.
With the FTOPS VIII in the books, Full Tilt is now going to run its new Mini Series of Poker and other WSOP related promotions, so if you want to try out this sweet site go here Full Tilt Poker review.
Full Tilt Announces Mini-Series of Poker
Full Tilt Poker has released a schedule and information about the 'Mini-Series of Poker' to be ran at the same time as the WSOP. It will be set to the same schedule as the WSOP, however the buy-ins will all be 1/100th of the real buy-ins from Vegas. This will give people without the big bankrolls a chance to experience all of the WSOP games for a reasonable price.
It is being called the Full Tilt MSOP, and will be hosted from May 30th through July 5th with 54 events in total. It will be pretty much the same except for the ladies only and senior's events will instead be open to everyone.
Full Tilt will be giving away a special edition watch to each winner of the events, which is a generous perk in addition to the first place prize!
There is $700k guaranteed in this series, and with all the pros in Vegas, there is a lot of potential to bring home some of that prize money.
This is the actual schedule:
