Paddy Power Poker today announced the full timetable for the 2008 Irish Open, including start times for all festival events. The Super Satellite to the Main Event will be the very first event of the festival and will take place at 6pm on Wednesday 19th March 2008.
The €3 Million Guaranteed Main Event, which has capacity for a massive 1,000 players, will have two starting days to accommodate the number of players expected to take part. Day 1A will take place on Thursday 20th March, with Day 1B starting on Good Friday, 21st March. Both Day 1's will begin at promptly at 2pm and players are advised to arrive early, as registration will close at 12 noon. Each subsequent day of the Main Event will also have a 2pm start, including the final day, which will see the eventual winner crowned on Easter Monday. The minimum payout for victory in this €4,500 buy-in event will be a staggering €800,000.
Start times have also been confirmed for all Side Events at the Irish Open. There will be early evening starts for the new Irish Open Ladies event, the €1,500 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout and the Pot Limit Omaha Rebuy. The final event, the Double Chance Scalp tournament will start a little earlier, at 3pm on Easter Monday.
The blind structure for the €3 Million Guaranteed Main Event has also been confirmed and will feature additional levels from last year. This will give more play to the competitors. The starting stack will be a generous 10,000 chips and the blinds will increase every 60 minutes. This slow clock should also allow time for some decent poker play.
The Irish Open is Europe's largest and longest running poker tournament and players wishing to participate in any of the festival events can do so by registering and paying online. Given the popularity of the event, pre-registration is recommended.
Players looking to qualify for the Irish Open Main Event online have no shortage of possible options. Paddy Power Poker are running two Super Satellites each week with daily feeders on offer for as little as $2. There are also $320 Super Satellites at 9pm every Sunday and a $55 Rebuy Super Satellite at 8.05pm every Wednesday.
