EPT Barcelona Day 1B - UK Update

Day 1b of the EPT Barcelona and it looking for UK players is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Some of the biggest names in poker are amongst yesterdays chip leaders including Thomas Walroos, Patrik Antonius and Johny Chan. The highest ranking Brit is much further down the tree, well known pro Marc Goodwin with 30,000.

Just behind him is Ian Woodley and James Higgins, both sitting on around 28,000. Much further down and having barely got off the starting blocks are Paul Gourley and Praz Bansi, both with about 16,000.

So not many UK players make it into day 2 of the first stop on the EPT tour, however British hopes are still very much alive in the form of Mark Teltscher, who is still in the top 5 after a fantastic performance on day 1a. Teltscher, who won the 2nd EPT London event in 2005 has 67,000 which is still a way of chip leader Daniel Sterns 101,500.

The prize pool has now been announced, with 56 places being paid and top spot getting a massive €1.1 million. Of the 543 entrants, 204 have survived to play again today. For the first time on the EPT the rest of the action is going to be played 8 handed instead of 9/10.

The action is going to get very heavy from now on and with names like Negreanu, Chan and Antonius still in the field, anything could happen. For all the action stay tuned to our EPT Live Updates.
