The WSOP may be over, in Las Vegas at least, for another year but the poker bandwagon rolls on! Harrah's have announced that they are expanding the number of tournament circuit events with a total of 12 stops across America in 9 Harrah's casinos.
"Strong customer demand prompted us to add another event to the Circuit schedule," said WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. "Each event brings the thrills and excitement of the WSOP to poker players at the local and regional level."
This is the 4th season of WSOP circuit championships and with a schedule that spans between November –May, effectively meaning that the WSOP events will run throughout the year. No longer is the WSOP just the
biggest poker festival in the poker year, it is now a genuine rival to the WPT as the biggest tournament circuit in the World (and by World we mean, America).
The buy-ins are considerably cheaper than the WPT (and now EPT) events at $5000 and the winner of each will automatically qualify for next years WSOP main event. Bluff Media will also be bringing live internet television hole-card coverage of each final table from November.
With the WSOPE just round the corner and these circuit events occurring for up to two weeks at a time at least once a month, the WSOP is quickly saturating the poker schedule beyond its usual summer schedule.
The schedule for the 2007-08 WSOP Circuit includes:
