European Poker Tour: Dublin - Preview

One of the most exciting events on the European poker calendar returns today as Pokerstars present their European Poker Tour Dublin event. The Merrion Casino is once again the place for the €8000 buy-in event and all eyes are on the Brits for this one.

Reigning champion Roland De Wolfe is the man in the driving seat for this event as he will be looking to recapture this title. De Wolfe has had good fortune on the Emerald Isle, as he recently finished runner up at the Irish Open too. He is the favourite with the bookies at 80/1.

Another UK player who will have a great deal of pressure on him is Julian Thew. 'YoYo' has just took down the last EPT event in Baden and made the inaugural final table of this event, which was eventually won by Ram Vaswani. Thew is very popular in these parts and a good price at 125/1.

With seats for up to 600 players held over two day ones, the prize pool will be well over the €2 million mark it was last year. Other big names expected to make the trip include Greg Raymer, Annette Obrestad and Katja Thater.

The cream of the Irish poker community will be in attendance too and Paddy Power are having an exclusive Top Irish betting market, with the favourites to place highest including:

Roy Brindley 16/1

Donnacha O'Dea 18/1

Padraig Parkinson 18/1

Marty Smyth 20/1

Liam Flood 25/1

Scott Gray 33/1

Outside of the main event in Monte Carlo, this is arguably the most sought after title on the EPT tour. Everyone knows that Ireland is one of the premier places to play poker in Europe and bragging rights as well as millions of Euros are at stake here. For play by play analysis the only place to go will be our exclusive EPT Live Updates.
