The Great British Poker Tour is new for 2007, and represents yet another reason for poker players to get out there and play more live poker, especially when the ultimate winner gets to play in the Five Diamond Classic at the Bellagio!

The Great British Poker Tour (GBPT) is being run in association with Gala Casinos and will feature five televised festivals across the UK and a £2,500 buy-in Grand Final. The GBPT will without doubt feature many of the best poker talents around and the ultimate winner can, in the best traditions of being "King (or Queen) for a Day" rightly consider themselves to be the best poker player in Britain!

The tournament schedule starts on 21st
Sky Poker
February 2007, as follows:

21st-25th February 2007 - Gala Maybury Casino,Edinburgh
4th-8th April 2007 - Gala Casino, Teesside
9th-13th May 2007 - Gala Casino, Nottingham
13th-17th June 2007 - Gala Casino, Bournemouth
15th-19th August 2007 - Gala Casino, Bradford

29th October – 4th November 2007 - Grand Final Festival at a venue to be announced.

Each of the five qualifying festivals around Britain will feature three days of poker tournaments, plus a two day £500+£50 No Limit Hold'em Main Event. Apart from the large cash prizes on offer, each Main Event will reward the winners with a VIP seat at the GBPT Grand Final.

The winner of the GBPT Grand Final will also receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in December 2007, while the runners-up will get trips and buy-ins to the Aussie Millions in Melbourne, Australia and various European Poker Tour events.

While this all sounds high-powered, the reality is that players of all levels and resources can qualify. This is because there will be live satellite tournaments available at many of the thirty Gala Casinos around the country at modest buy-ins. In addition, there will be online opportunities to qualify for the GBPT festivals for as little as $5 + $0.50, plus weekly freerolls. Download Coral Poker here for this opportunity as well as being able to play for a $600 bonus. These online qualifiers run until 17th February so there is plentiful opportunity to qualify.

The GBPT is expected to attract some of the best and most famous poker players across Britain and Europe. These will include the 2006 winner of the £500+£50 event at the Scottish Poker Championships at the Gala Maybury Casino in Edinburgh, Iwan Jones who says:

"The GBPT is a real ace of a tour with eye-catching festivals nationwide at Gala Casinos and the Gala Maybury Casino certainly brings back good memories! There's plenty in the pot to play for with the ultimate accolade of getting crowned the Greatest Poker Player in the land. If you're into your poker, then you need to get involved now."

Nick Potter, Managing Director of Gala Casinos said;

"We are very excited to be staging the Great British Poker Tour. This is a fantastic opportunity for poker players of all levels to show the world how seriously we take our poker here in Great Britain, with the quality of player talent we have. We hope to see some thrilling clashes all the way up to the final. They'll also get to enjoy some of the best casino and poker venues in the country."
