WSOP Europe Betting Markets

Now that the WSOPE is well under way there is still a chance for the 7 Billion of us not playing in it to win or lose some money, as the betting markets have opened up.

Betfair have two books running on the WSOPE. The hotly debated field size bet and the overall winner. The smart money appears to be on between 300-400 players at 2-1 (It was at 6-1 just two days ago so that clearly is the way the punters are going) with under 300 at 33-1 and over 700 at 6.5-1 – indicating if anything that the field will be a sizeable one despite the hefty buy-in.

If you really fancy a punt you can bet on the eventual winner. Phil Ivey, as always is the favourite at 40-1. Hellmuth, Negreanu and Cunningham are just behind him at around 70-1. Some other interesting prices include WSOP Final Tablist Jon Kalmar at 220-1, Roland De Wolfe, Patrik Antonius and Gus Hansen at 100-1 and Joe Hachem at 200-1 is very good value. The favorite is of course the field, at 1-3, but with an low number of internet qualifiers is perhaps not as good a bet as it seems?

Bodog (or is it Newbodog?) also have a last longer market, featuring only the established players. This is perhaps a more realistic place to put your money if you are routing for you favourite poker player. The top of the market looks like this:

• Phil Ivey 8/1

• Phil Hellmuth 9/1

• Carlos Mortensen 10/1

• Daniel Negreanu 10/1

• Gus Hansen 12/1

• Andy Black 12/1

• Doyle Brunson 14/1

• Marcel Luske 14/1

• Howard Lederer 20/1

• Dave Ulliott 30/1

• Noah Boeken 33/1
