December 22 2006, Tony Bromham

Top Australian poker player, Joseph Hachem, has timed his entry into his home "Major" perfectly. By capturing the WPT $15,000 Doyle Brunson North American Classic at the Bellagio, Las Vegas – winning over $2,000,000 – Hachem goes into the Aussie Millions 2007 in high spirits and a likely favourite to make a good fist at capturing a third "Group 1" title, having already secured the WSOP Championship in 2005 and last week's WPT.
The Aussie Millions 2007 festival runs from 6th January 2007 to the conclusion of the Main Event on 19th January, at the exclusive Crown Casino in Melbourne, Victoria. UK Poker News will be bringing you more as it evolves.
So far, amongst the high profile players that have confirmed they will be taking part are World Series of Poker Champions, Jamie Gold (2006), Joe Hachem (2005) and Greg 'Fossil Man' Raymer (2004) as well as the "Tiger Woods of Poker" Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, 2000 WSOP winner Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, multi-WPT winner Gus Hansen, Howard "The Professor" Lederer, Kathy Liebert, Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari, Scott Fischman, Marcel "The Flying Dutchman" Luske, Asian Poker Tour champion Tony G, and defending Aussie Millions champion, New Zealand's Lee Nelson.
The 2007 Aussie Millions Main Event is likely to field well over 600 players this time, up from 418 in January 2006, every player with a keen eye on the anticipated Aus$6,000,000 or more prize pool. There will be a guaranteed first prize of Aus$1,000,000!
Fox Sports Net of the USA will be in town to televise the whole event and television viewers will be able to see the poker played out in the Crown Casino's newly refurbished 50-table poker room.
Before the Main Event gets going, there will be plenty of side events and super-satellites to keep everyone interested and in with a chance of qualifying for the big one. But Melbourne is a long way from Europe so UK Poker News is on hand to help those keen to qualify over here!
Throughout the last several weeks, UK Poker News has run a number of exclusive free-to-enter tournaments to help players qualify for a seat at the Aussie Millions 2007. Now we are down to one! This is definitely your last chance to play one of these tournaments where the numbers are limited to those who sign up via Poker News. No-one else at the online room gets to play it!
On 30th December, a Team PokerNews exclusive freeroll will be played at Titan Poker at 20.00 GMT (15.00 EST). When you open your Titan Poker account through UK Poker News with a minimum $25 deposit, Titan will automatically credit you with a further $50 cash, no strings attached (use code UKPNEWS). Not only will you have that cash to hand but you can play to fly to the Aussie Millions without spending a further dollar, in the Team PokerNews Aussie Millions Freeroll (the freeroll is of course free to enter but you must earn 2,000 Player Points to qualify for entry. Your play will naturally earn towards your Titan Poker 100% match deposit bonus).
After the excesses of Christmas have worn off, what better relaxation than playing a freeroll with a chance to qualify for the Aussie Millions.
