Official Day 1a Chip Counts Released
After more than eight levels of play on the first of two opening days of Event #2, action was halted with 224 players still seated. They'll be joined by a similar contingent from tomorrow's Day 1b group, which will play for the same amount of time on Sunday, and merged with today's survivors for Monday's Day 2 action.
David Robertson finished the day at the top of the 224 survivors, with 109,100 in chips. He was closely trailed by Ryan D'Angelo (105,800), Frank Siwopoli (103,900) and Shane "Shaniac" Schleger (89,000).

Player 226 has just been eliminated from the tournament and play has stopped with 43:47 left on the clock in level nine. We're being told by the tournament staff that players in Day 1b will play down until this exact time tomorrow, regardless of how many players remain.

Henry Tran Eliminates Another Player
Henry Tran raised under the gun to 3,500. A middle position player raised all in for around 11,000 and Tran called. Tran held

and his opponent held 3-3. The flop came 

to give Tran a pair of queens. The turn and river helped neither players and Tran moved up to 80,000 in chips. -

Griffin Continues to Eliminate
After a player in the cutoff shoved all-in for 8,700, Gavin Griffin made the call from the button. Gavin showed pocket nines while his opponent turned over A-K. His opponent missed the board and was one of the few remaining players to be eliminated in these remaining minutes. Gavin is back up to 37,000 after the hand.
